To ADD.It was interesting to read your opinion. I felt the same way as you watching `The fellowship of the ring`.But unlike you I totally forgot about the book afterwards although still like it.I haveґve just admitted Jecksons right to create his own and to large extent independent masterpeace( in the end he didґt buy the authorґs rights from Tolkienґs descendant for nothing).So now when watching any part of the trilogy Iґm just enjoying this incredible and grotesque interplay of music colour and action, Iґm not trying to analise it. And beleive me if this movie had closely followed the book you wouldnґt have watched it at all.Because the tempo of the book is very slow and charakters are pretty dead dramatically .You just donґt feel it reading book.Try to imagine all this guys every now and again starting to read rimes or sing songes about heros of the past.It is greate on the paper but on the screen it would look crasy.I also think you forgot something ones Frodoґs and Samґs relationship as presented in the movie irritated you.Remember the episode when Frodo after been bitten by Selob is captured by the orces and Sam in order to save the ring takes it from him. Theif! you are theif! That is what Frodo shouts in Samґs face according to Tolkien. Jackson just wanted to make this transformation of Frodo more dramatic and obvious for the audience. About the rohirrim charge at the olifants just imagine an army of the brave men who found themselves up against the enamy they never met before and have no idia how to fight with.They have only two options ether to fly or to fight.As brave men they chose to fight and employed their well established tactiks of cavalry atack with fast manuvring among olifants and shoting at their eyes.The fact that many of rohirrims died doesnґt mean that Theoden was an idiot. And so forth.Let me give you one advice when whatching some part of the trilogy (no matter which one) remember that it is a fantasy and is very much about touching your emotions (rather then logic) like music does. And try to watch it in english you will see the difference.Good luck to you.
